2004 Limney Estate

"Will Davenport's inexpensive sparkling wine is a landmark. It is refreshing, dry and creamy, and the bubbles last for ages" - Matthew Jukes, The Wine List 2002 - the top 250 wines of the year.

Produced from the Rotherfield site since 1999, The 2004 vintage is made entirely from the Pinot Noir and Auxerrois grapes, grown organically at our Rotherfield vineyard and aged on the lees for 3 years before disgorging. It has a crisp citrus / apple flavour, softened by ripe fruit, good yeast character. Overall it shows the character of a Blanc de Noir Champagne, even though it contains a sizable proportion of Auxerrois - the Pinot Noir flavours are dominant.

This 2004 wine is really refreshing and able to stand up to any occasion, but is particularly excellent when combined with food. We have been pleased to see it  feature among Tom Stevenson's top 20 English Sparkling wines. It  has won silver and a Bronze medals in the competitions over the last few  years and also helped us to retain the Montague Trophy for the second year running (previously won by the Horsmonden dry white).
