The Davenport Vineyards

At Davenport Vineyards, we believe that exceptional wine begins in the vineyard.

Everything we do starts with a focus on growing the highest-quality grapes - organically, thoughtfully, and with a deep respect for the land. Our goal is to let the fruit speak for itself, creating wines that are full of life, un-manipulated,

and true to their origin.

Distinctive Wines
From Diverse Vineyards

Over the past 30 years, Will Davenport and his vineyard team have established five vineyard sites, each with distinctive soils, aspects, and microclimates. This natural diversity allows for a range of grape varieties, carefully matched to the unique conditions of each plot.

From vibrant whites to delicate reds and elegant sparkling wines, every bottle reflects the character of the land it comes from.

Most of the vineyards are located around Horsmonden in Kent, with one site in Rotherfield, East Sussex. All are certified organic by the Soil Association, and managed using a low-intervention approach - cane pruning, meticulous canopy management, and organic-approved sprays that support natural disease resistance.

Harvest usually begins in September and continues through mid-October, with every grape hand-picked by our dedicated harvest team.

Growing Organically

Our vineyards are overseen by Ben Connor, a Plumpton College graduate in Viticulture and Oenology, who has been part of our team since 2014. His expertise and dedication to organic farming are central to maintaining the health and vitality of our vines year after year.

In 2022, we expanded to Hazel Street Farm, adding 43 acres of vineyard and 70 acres of apple orchards. While the grapes are currently supplied to another winery, we’ve begun the transition to organic practices - giving the vines and soil time to adapt naturally.

This long-term approach reflects our commitment to sustainability and quality, marking an another exciting new chapter in our journey.
